Judges are selected from submissions from the Professional Members of the CMAA, and are located all over Australia. In any one year they are not aware of who their fellow judges may be for that year. Please refer to the Judging Process page for further information.

From 1973 to 1992 there were 11 judges each year, in what was then known as the Australasian Country Music Awards.

In 1993 the Country Music Association of Australia took over the running of the Awards, renamed the Awards the Country Music Awards of Australia and expanded the number of Judges to 20 in 1997.

In 2004 the number of Judges was expanded yet again, and included approx 50 judges across all categories.

From 2006 the artists and other industry members called for a larger number of judges to be a part of these, Australia's most prestigious Country Music awards, and for the 2008 Awards there were 65 judges involved.

In 2009 the process was totally redesigned to allow for a even greater input from the Australian country music industry by implementing two rounds of judging.

Over the years judges have given their time unstintingly, offering from 1 to 23 years service (over the life of the Awards), and for this we are sincerely grateful.

The Country Music Association of Australia acknowledges and thanks all the Judges of the Awards since their inception in 1973...
