Felicity steps into the light ……
2005 TIARA Awards Female Vocalist Of the Year
2005 ACMLA People's Choice Awards Female Vocalist Of The Year
2005 National Country Music Awards Best Duet Of The Year
2004 Australian Independent Country Music Female Vocalist Of The Year
Felicity has well and truly come of age in the Australian entertainment industry, having served her apprenticeship among some of the best in the business. Now it’s Felicity’s turn to take the spotlight.
"Felicity walked to the microphone and the room came alive! Her voice is just magical! Felicity is a true star" - Marius Els, CEO, Allied Artists
"Felicity's effortless vocals, in songs ranging from the lighthearted to the heartfelt which take the listener back to country roots, with a tinge of nostalgia" - Vince Jones, Live On Stage - ABC Radio
"…Felicity Urquhart - blessed with a bold voice …" - John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
She’s now trodden the boards of the world’s stage – and her star is still on the rise.
Nashville music critics have come to know the singer from down under during several recent trips to America visiting “Music City” and St Louis – home of the blues.
“This Aussie chanteuse knocked ‘em dead at her Nashville showcase. Echoes of Patsy Cline with power to spare”, said Nashville music writer Robert K Oermann – one of many who have fallen under Felicity’s spell.
That’s pretty much the norm for those who have never seen this petite power package work. Some people come alive on stage – and Felicity is one of them.
A writer from The Rage, Nashville told his readers what to expect from Felicity “... traditional country ranging from Bakersfield to the honky tonks of Lower Broad from this Australian sex kitten ... her vocals ... luxuriously smooth and haunting”.
She is a Golden Guitar trophy winner, has been a co-host, presenter and finalist in the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, received two Mo Awards & three ACE Awards for Female Country Performer of the Year.
Accolades are nothing new, as she has been singing for more than half her life – but for Felicity - it’s fun and it shows.
Within the last year, Felicity has travelled to the States a number of times for songwriting and performance trips, with the latest focusing on her forthcoming album and career fifth.
She’s now armed with a swagful of songs, co-written with some of Nashville’s finest including Gene Pistilli, who wrote the title track from her most recent EMI album, New Shadow, and recent Grammy award winner Jim Lauderdale, who wrote Planet of Love. Other collaborators include Jerry Salley, Randy Scruggs, Ray Herndon, Jimbeau Hinson, and Jennifer Kimball who are more than impressed by Felicity and she’s now ready to begin recording the follow-up.
Her new album is due for release mid 2005, and to satisfy her legion of fans released a Limited Edition EP titled Turn Out The Light last year, with the title track & first single securing a Top 5 Country Chart hit and nominations in the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, TIARA Awards & ACMLA's Peoples Choice Awards for Female Vocal. The latest single Dear Someone, a duet with Glen Hannah, has also achieved the same recognition in all awards and is currently a Top 10 hit - so it looks like being a great 2005.
“This is the way country used to be ... the artist has a unique voice that plays with the lyrics”.
