Melissa Bajric

Multi award winning singer/songwriter Melissa Bajric was raised in a small village near the vineyard regions of the Hunter Valley in NSW. Her love for country music shone through from the early age of five, when she chose to sing old time country songs at a school talent quest, while the rest of the bill was nursery rhymes.

For most of her life Melissa has been going to the Country Music Festivals at Poley's Place on the Barrington. As a young girl, this was the venue of her first public appearance as a singer, alongside her dad playing the guitar; and still today Melissa returns to Poley's each Easter long weekend, albeit with a much larger entourage of musicians in tow, to perform at their Easter hoedown.

At just 16 years of age Melissa was signed to record on the Drover Music label, and that same year she stepped into the studio to work on her first album with renowned producer Lindsay Butler. This was to become the start of an association that would span more than a decade.

Melissa's debut album Believe In Me was released in 2001, and it yielded a variety of Best New Talent awards. In 2003, along with label co-artists Bob Easter and Graham Rodger, Melissa released the popular duets album Drovin' All Over; and in 2006 she released her third album Small Town Girl.

The year 2007 saw the introduction of six times Queensland Musician of the Year, Lindsay Waddington, to Melissa's stage performances. Waddo is now Melissa's Musical Director, and has since accompanied her on all tours and shows that she's performed at across the country, bringing his talent and unique sound into each of her performances.

During 2008 Melissa released the first of many tracks to international radio, with resounding success. Blue Mountain Melody, the third single from the Small Town Girl album, spent sixteen weeks in the European Top 100 charts and hit the ECMA National Top 10 in several countries. Including film clips, an almost unheard of six singles have been pulled from the Small Town Girl album and released to radio and television, 5 tracks to radio and 3 to CMC, from a total pool of 6 tracks.

All of Melissa's albums have been produced by multi Golden Guitar trophy winning music producer Lindsay Butler, and all of her film clips have been produced by multi Golden Guitar trophy winning video producer Ross Wood. She is a TSA songwriting award winner, she's been a Top 10 finalist in the People's Choice National Musicoz Awards, and her name has been placed on the Country Music Wall Of Honour in Tamworth.
