The last 18 months has been an exhilarating trip for the ROUND MOUNTAIN GIRLS and their ever-growing band of followers. Proudly independent, the Round Mountain Girls delivered outstanding performances at some of Australia’s biggest festivals. This has established them as one of the nation’s most exciting live bands.
Byron Bay’s Blues Festival, Woodford Folk Fest, Caloundra’s Music Festival and Tamworth’s Country Music Festival all saw the Round Mountain Girls deliver high-energy and uplifting performances. RMG have become underground favourites on the Tamworth pub scene during the festival and are set to return in 2012.
‘One Step Closer’, is the title of the band’s second studio album released in January this year. Produced by Anthony Lycenko (ARIA nominated for his work with Pete Murray) and recorded at 301 studios in Byron Bay, Australia, the album, as its name suggests, is full of optimism and reeks of positive energy. The collection of nine originals and an RMG re-working of two traditional tunes encapsulates where the band is heading and to a certain degree, where the band has been. If you look closely in their closet you will see, hear and smell rock, Celtic, blues and bluegrass funk. The band will be touring and promoting the album in 2011/2012.
The Round Mountain Girls are preparing themselves to take the next big step into global domination. Exceptional musicians and songsters, vibrant performers and eternally positive, it’s only a matter of time…..One Step Closer.
